The FSA’s Scientific Advisory Committees (SACs) are non-statutory and advisory non-departmental public bodies (ANDPBs) or Departmental Expert Committees (DECs) which are subject to review.
The purpose of these reviews is to provide regular assurance and challenge for good governance and efficiency of the FSA SACs.
This page contains links to previous and ongoing reviews of any and all FSA SACs.
In 2015 the FSA commenced a Triennial Review of all SACs for which it was lead or sole sponsor. This followed the Cabinet Office guidance: "Triennial Reviews: Guidance on Reviews of Non-Departmental Public Bodies" effective from 1st April 2014.
In 2022 the FSA commenced Public Body Reviews of all SACs for which it was lead or sole sponsor. This followed Cabinet Office's Public Bodies Review Programme which was published 26th April 2022.
Below are links to the results and recommendations from the two stages of the review programme.
The FSA produced their response to the recommendations in both the self-assessments and Independent Review. This response will be presented to the FSA Board on the 21st June 2023.
